Suffixes - Year 1 is a fun way of teaching KS1 learners about suffixes. The resource contains a range of activities such as: 

- Definitions, examples and explanations of common suffixes (as required by the Year 1 English programme of study)

- Engaging animated explanations, with examples, of how adding -ing, -ed, -er and -est changes the meaning of a root word

- Fun activities to help children identify and use suffixes – all with answers included

- A link to an online Year 1 suffixes game

The resource covers the key skills set out in the National Curriculum Year 1 English Programme of Study for Writing – Transcription – ‘add suffixes: using -ing, -ed, -er and -est where no change is needed in the spelling of roots words.’
