Developing Inference - KS3 - teaching resource
(Part of the KS3 English Essentials series)
Our KS3 English Essentials resources are designed to help students master core English skills that may not have been fully developed at KS2.
Developing Inference – KS3 is the perfect resource to help pupils understand the importance of inference in reading and develop their ability to read between the lines. Through a series of structured activities, students learn what “infer” and “inference” mean and practise applying these skills using both images and texts.
Teachers are encouraged to work through the example texts and discussion prompts with the class to assess understanding before assigning the appropriate level of differentiated worksheet to each pupil.
The resource includes three differentiated worksheet activities:
-
Bronze – accessible texts and introductory inference questions
-
Silver – moderate challenge with more detailed evidence-based tasks
-
Gold – higher-level inference activities requiring deeper textual analysis
This flexible and engaging resource makes it easy to support learners of all abilities, developing their reading comprehension, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
