Root Words 

This KS2 English grammar teaching resource is made up of an editable 21-slide PowerPoint presentation and three differentiated worksheets all with answer keys. See preview images for details.

The lesson introduces the concept of root words and can be used in Year 3 when beginning this topic, or in Years 4 to 6 to consolidate existing understanding. 

Teachers and students discuss a number of examples together to consolidate understanding before moving on to the three differentiated worksheets (Gold, Silver and Bronze), where children will create their own group of words from a given root, define them and use them in sentences.
