(118 slide editable PowerPoint presentation & 14 worksheets)
Upper KS2 / Lower KS3 English
The range of activities in this unit of work are intended to suggest opportunities around the novel Framed by Frank Cottrell Boyce. At least one copy of the novel will need to be used and it is recommended that the novel is read for pleasure outside the English lesson. There are weblinks to extend and enrich children’s learning and teachers will identify PSHE opportunities arising from the activities.
The resource includes specific activities to teach the spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary statutory requirements of the English National Curriculum and although it is not intended to be a prescriptive unit of work, it is structured chronologically. Not all chapters have activities. Teachers should select from, and adapt, these resources to meet the needs of the students they teach. There are some potentially controversial issues explored throughout the story and teachers should make their own decisions about which elements to include. All the links to external sites are valid at the date of publication but should be checked before use.
