This differentiated GCSE English Literature lesson explores Dickens’ presentation of Scrooge’s transformation and redemption in the final scenes of Stave Five of A Christmas Carol. Designed for KS4 learners, the 17-slide fully editable PowerPoint and four accompanying worksheets guide students through close reading, analysis, and reflection on Scrooge’s journey across the novella.

The lesson assumes prior knowledge of the opening passage of Stave Five, from the beginning of the chapter to Scrooge’s joy at the “glorious” bells and “heavenly sky” of Christmas morning.
