Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo (Powerpoint and worksheets)
This unit will successfully work at Curriculum for Excellence: First or Second Level.
The range of activities in this unit of work are intended to suggest opportunities for reading and writing using the novel Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo which can be used both in English and across the curriculum. There are
weblinks to extend and enrich children’s learning and teachers will
identify many opportunities arising from these activities such as art
and craft work (origami, the art of Hokusai); links to RE (Zen and
Shinto religions); the study of Japan; astronomy; habitats; World War
ll; mountains and many more. It can be used as a transition unit of
work and it can easily be adapted to be used to fit in with other
requirements.
